While we bear no responsibility for the content of the following sites, or
what you may or may not choose to do with the information within, we reckon
they'll be of interest if you want help, advice or even just a damn good
laugh, and any of the following sound like you…
I'm a spliffhead…
Regular visitor to Amsterdam? So laid back you're virtually
horizontal? T-shirt so full of hot-rock holes it looks
like a map of the cosmos? Even if you're ticketless, check
out the Glastonbury
Festival and Big
Chill sites & community
boards to meet other like-minded souls - if you can be
motivated enough that is...
I'm a pill fiend
Excellent info on maximising the good times and minimising
the damage for all you loved-up club bunnies can be found
at Ecstasy.org
I'm off clubbing
Written by ravers, for ravers, DanceSafe has
excellent advice on safer clubbing.
Ditto the lovely South Africans at RaveSafe -
along with some v. interesting stuff on the latest research on what pills
do to you
(good, bad and ugly) plus club culture in general. Mind how you go.
I'm
going out on the lash
Steady (did you spill my pint? Well did you?). While
the team behind this site have been known to be a bit partial
ourselves, the demon
drink can
trip you
up. Sober up fast at Alcohol
Concern and Wrecked.
I'm tripping my tits off
One pill makes you larger…aaaand one pill
makes you small…visit
The
Minds High for an informative trip through the
lair of the White Rabbit - complete with explanations of
those mind-boggling effects, a joint-rolling
guide and even
recommendations for music to trip along to!
I wanna hear it from the
horse's mouth…
Mouths don't come horsier when it comes to drugs than
the mind-bendingly comprehensive Vaults of Erowid
and Lycaeum.
The loveable reprobates at Urban75 also know their stuff when it
comes to drugs. And their drugs discussion noticeboard is so knowledgeable/extreme/outrageous
it's guaranteed to make you feel as streetwise as a squid.
These sites are more suitable for older/more experienced users
in our
humble opinion.
I can handle it - I think…
If you're caning it a bit too much for comfort and
find you can't stop or are getting into trouble - Recovery.org and Addaction
will help you
be brave and sort it out. Also visit Go
Ask Alice for advice and solutions on all drug and drink problems.
I've
got the t-shirt
Been there, done that? Know everything there is to know about
drugs? We think you're sooooooo cool, but suggest you may be
in for a
surprise if
you try
Channel Four's sharp and extremely funny drugs
test.
I'm
not a happy camper lately…
Drug use often goes hand in hand with mental wellbeing
issues like anxiety and depression. The stigma-busting Read
The
Signs gives excellent info and advice on the highs and lows.
I've
been busted - help!
Don't panic! Release will help see you right on
all things police/law related
I'm
a worried parent
Want to know how to talk to little Johnnie about his glue
habit without losing your rag? Visit Addaction -
a charity set up
to help drug
users, their parents
and families, provides an online 'Parents' Guide to Drugs'
which gives matchless info and advice.
Remember you're
not alone - click through to Adfam for support, information, pointers to local resources and
a noticeboard where you can chat to other parents about drug
and family-related
issues.
Dare has
an
excellent Parent's survival guide to drugs plus info, games
and quizzes suitable for younger teenagers, while Ne Choices's
interactive
family
choice game will
help spark off healthy family discussions - even if only
'cause it's
just
so weird.
I'm worried about drug crime in my area

I need to talk to someone…
The Youth
Enquiry Service offers free, confidential and
non-judgmental advice, information, support and counselling
to young people
between the ages of
13 and 25 in Kingsbridge, Devon.
Remember you can email The
Samaritans as well as call them, and it's for anyone who's down/in
a state - you don't
have
to be suicidal to call. They really are good - trust
us.
For free confidential drugs information and advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, talk to Frank by calling 0800 77 66 00 or their website www.talktofrank.com.

What are you doing here, you naughty thing? The
Beeb's ID
site may be
more
up your street. Contains lots of un-boring info about
drugs etc plus a quiz so you can impress your mates
with how clued-up you
are…
MindBodySoul's got
good stuff on why people take drugs, what they do for
you, and all those myths flying about
that stupid
people
(i.e not
you!)
tend to believe...
I wanna know for sure what's in my E…
Don't we all, darling, but the only way to find
out is to test it. The
Green Party, bizarrely enough,
has E-testing
kits
- order your
very
own and be
the envy of all your mates. Their site's also good
for dodgy
pill alerts and fascinating
facts.
Also have a look at top drugs charity Turning Point's
spiffing site DrugWorld.
It's
very hot on risks and effects info on 'new' drugs
(Nazi crank, anyone? Kat? No, we've never heard of
them either…) with good cartoon/game/self-help
type thingumajigs.
I'm a drugs youth worker
See KFX -
an
excellent resource for all people working with young
people and drugs - nationwide news and info on
harm minimisation, government
initiatives
etc.
Lifeline also
notoriously tell it like it is. Controversial but
very effective.
I'm busy
If you only have time to visit one site, make
it Drugscope
- it's
the UK's biggest
online information
and resource guide for
drugs. Check out their Drugsearch section
and spot how many on the list you've
never even
heard of. More comprehensive than Grange Hill.
